DWIGHT GOODEN
Dwight Gooden is a legendary former Major League Baseball pitcher with a career spanning over 16 years.
Gooden made his MLB debut in 1984 with the Mets and quickly made a name for himself, earning the NL Rookie of the Year Award and leading the league in strikeouts. In 1985, he was unbelievable. His astounding stats - a standout 24–4 record, 1.53 ERA, 268 strikeouts, and 16 complete games - won him the pitching Triple Crown and the NL Cy Young Award. He played a key role in the Mets' 1986 World Series win.
Gooden's later years included a no-hitter with the Yankees in 1996 and contributions to their World Series championship. He was inducted into the New York Mets Hall of Fame in 2010, and his number 16 was retired by the Mets in 2024.
